About & Craft

Fifty years of weaving, one standard.

Maren & Loom began as a single loom in a converted barn. Three generations later we remain a family mill — small enough to care about every metre, established enough to do it beautifully.

The hands behind the cloth

Our weavers train for years before they run a loom unsupervised. That patience shows up in the cloth — even tension, true selvedges and a hand that machines alone cannot replicate.

We believe textiles should outlast trends. So we weave for longevity, choosing fibres and structures that age gracefully and earn their place in a wardrobe or a home for years to come.

The process

From fibre to finished bolt

01

Sourcing the fibre

We trace every fibre to its source — European flax, British fleece, organic cotton and mulberry silk from partners we have known for decades.

02

Spinning & dyeing

Yarns are spun to our specification and dyed in small lots using low-impact, water-recycling processes for depth of colour without the waste.

03

Weaving the cloth

Traditional shuttle looms run alongside modern rapier looms, letting us balance the character of handcraft with the consistency of precision.

04

Finishing by hand

Each bolt is washed, pressed and inspected by hand before it leaves the mill — nothing ships until it meets the standard set in 1974.
